"Learning to love, live and celebrate as we grow in the knowledge and love of Christ"

Monday 8th June

See below for this week's message ...

Good morning Year 2 children and parents

We hope you are all well and have had a good week. Mrs McAtamney and I met all the teachers and teaching assistants at school last Monday as we had an INSET day. It was lovely to see all our friends again as we have really been missing each other, as we know you’ve been missing your friends. We had to socially distance from each other and wash our hands lots during the day which was tricky but we soon got used to it. As you may know we are welcoming some of the Year 1children back to school this week and Mrs McAtamney, Mrs Morgan and I will be teaching a Year1 bubble of children in our Year 2 class. It will seem strange not to have you there too.

We hope you’ve been managing to get outside and do some exercise, even though the weather wasn’t so good last week. I’ve been walking my dog Lola every day with my daughter Emily to give us all some exercise. Lola has never had such long walks before so she spends most of the rest of the day asleep! When we were in school, I tidied up the new flower bed outside our class as all the daffodils and tulips needed cutting back. I watered the bed with at least 10 watering cans of water as it was very very dry and I will be watching very carefully to see if any of the wild flower seeds we planted just before lockdown start to grow. I’ll keep you posted!

We are continuing to follow the BBC Bitesize learning.  We check the tasks when they are loaded each evening on BBC Bitesize and add any notes or attachments here if necessary so please check back each day.

Please keep on reading and listening to stories, practise spellings from the Y2 list, or when you know those off by heart, you could start learning ones from the Y3/4 list in the centre pages of your Reading Record book. We will also set on-line tasks on Mathletics whenever they link to the theme of the week's learning if you have the opportunity to access the Mathletics website https://login.mathletics.com/.

NB I know some of you have had issues with the TT Rockstars website. If you are finding that it is only setting a very limited number of questions repeatedly, please contact Mrs McAtamney via the office and she will hopefully be able to help.

Look after yourselves, be kind to each other and have a great week!

Love from Mrs Simpson and Mrs McAtamney xxx ...
