Nursery Admissions

Applying for a Nursery Place

If you wish to register your interest in applying for a Nursery place for your child in the future, please download the 'Interest Form' below, complete it and return it to the School Office. When the admissions process for your child's year group starts, an admission pack will be sent to you.

Nursery 2018-19 Intake

Children born between 01.09.2014 and 31.08.2015

The application deadline for Nursery 2018-19 intake has now passed. If you still need to apply for a Nursery place for your child, please contact the school office on 01442 385060. Allocation day is 25th April 2018, we will contact you by email on this date advising whether you have been successful in your application.

All successful applicants will receive a Welcome Pack at the beginning of June. This will include an invitation to our Visit Morning, which will take place in 4th July for parents and 5th July for children.

There are still places available in our current Nursery class (2017-18)

If you would like to register your interest in applying for a place for your child to start in our Reception Class in the future, please download and fill in & the Interest Form below and send it in to the school office. Please note these are not application forms for places when the admissions process for your child's year group is about to start, an application pack will be sent to you.

Starting School - Applying for a Reception Place

September 2018 Intake

Children born between 01.09.2013 and 31.08.2014

The application deadline for the Reception 2018-19 intake has now passed. If you still need to apply for a Reception place for your child, please click here for information on what you need to do. If you would like to apply for a place at St Thomas More School, please contact the School Office on 01442 385060.

All successful applicants to St Thomas More School will receive a Welcome Pack at the beginning of June. This will include an invitation to our Visit Morning, which will take place on 4th July. We strongly recommend that parents and children keep this morning free, as it is an opportunity for the children to meet their future classmates while their parents attend an information session.

As St Thomas More School is a Voluntary Aided School, the admission criteria are those of the Governing Body. You should, therefore, complete the application for this school in order for the Governors to consider your application. You must also apply to Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) before your application to St Thomas More School can be considered by the Governors (please see 'To make an application to HCC' below). If you live outside Hertfordshire at the time of application, you should apply through your home Local Authority.

To make an application to HCC:

Parents can access all the information they need and can make an application for a primary school place at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/admissions. Applying online is quick, safe and secure and parents will receive confirmation that the application has been received; the application can be viewed at any time online and applicants can check or change the application at any time before the deadline.

To make an application to St Thomas More School

When the admissions process for your child’s intake begins, an application pack will be available to download below, or from the school office.

Please ensure your application includes:

  • The Supplementary Information Form, (SIF) completed
  • A Certificate of Catholic Practice, completed (where applicable) - available from your priest at the parish where you worship
  • A copy of your child’s baptism certificate (where applicable)

The application must be submitted to the school by the deadline specified by HCC.

If St Thomas More School is not your first ranked school but you have listed it, you should still complete the school’s application and return it to us by the HCC deadline.

Applying for an In-Year Place

As St Thomas More School is a Voluntary Aided School, the admission criteria are those of the Governing Body. You should, therefore, complete the application for this school in order for the Governors to consider your application. Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) is responsible for co-ordinating In Year admissions for all applications from Hertfordshire residents, therefore you must also apply to HCC before your application to St Thomas More School can be considered by the Governors. If you live outside Hertfordshire at the time of application, you should apply through your home Local Authority

If your child's year group is fully subscribed, your application can be placed on Continuing Interest at your request. Should a place become available, all applications on continuing interest for the relevant year group will be considered according to our admissions criteria.

Parents can access all the information they need and can make an application to HCC for an In Year school place at http://www.hertsdirect.org/services/edlearn/admissions/inyear

Please ensure your application to St Thomas More School includes:
